Why do you travel? For the sheer difference of other places? For the food? To meet people? Well, that last reason must have been part of the motivation for the independent travel agents Sunshine to conduct a poll of the best-looking nations, as judged by British holidaymakers. Some 1,500 people from throughout the UK responded, and there are some surprises, not least whether the survey respondents themselves thought they made the grade.

And who's at No 1? You'll have to find out, but let us know if you think the result is a cliche. Of course, there's one more qualification to make. We'd argue that this top-10 list doesn't represent every nation on Earth: there are some bunches of beautiful people that are hardly ever visited.

Nonetheless, we've picked out what we think are some pretty gorgeous representatives (male and female) of those countrypeople seen as particularly gorgeous in the eyes of roving Britons. It was, shall we say, interesting work. But even more interesting would be to discover what you think of our selection of images, whether you believe the countries in the top 10 deserve to be there (there were some good insights about the new places the British are travelling to in numbers now), and whether the loveliness of the lads and lasses on location has any influence at all on where you travel to.
